What is a “green” museum?
The BCCM has joined a growing list of children’s museums that follow an environmentally-friendly philosophy towards facility construction and operation.

Here’s how…

 Use products and materials with no known dangerous toxins or chemicals

 Work with regionally suppliers of materials, cutting down on transportation costs while supporting the local economy

 Utilize durable products and materials that last while avoiding those that quickly wear out and end-up in landfills

  Operate energy efficient equipment and use recycled products

 Implement a regular recycling program for paper, batteries, computers, etc.

 Promote environmental philosophy to staff and visitors
